Pixar Fest: A First Look
As many of you know by now, Pixar Fest began Friday, April 13th and will run until Monday, September 3rd! This summer-long celebration has TONS to offer! I was lucky enough to experience it opening weekend, and I have a lot of thoughts and first impressions I’d like to share with you!
The theme of Pixar Fest is “Celebrating Friendship & Beyond.” I grabbed my Disney loving partner in crime, Ashlee, and headed to the parks! With the opening of anything, ALWAYS plan to get there early! Upon arriving, I loved all the new banners in the esplanade and the Pixar Fest signs above the entrances of Disneyland and DCA! We didn’t have the best plan of attack for the day as we found ourselves park-hopping at least four or five times. However, we were able to try a bunch of food, see both parades, and see what Pixar Fest has to offer! Without further ado, let me tell you about my thoughts on Pixar Fest!
As I’ve mentioned before, I consider myself a foodie! I did what any OCD, food-loving individual would do and made a foodie guide! I took a journal and made a list of ALL the food being offered at Disneyland and DCA! I may have missed a couple things, but I’ve included a vast majority. I plan to try as many food items as possible until the end of Pixar Fest!
I’m going to start a series of posts I’m titling, “My Quest to Eat Through Pixar Fest!” I’m not sure how many posts it will take me to reach my goal, but you all will be the first to know! I tried quite a few items already, with the help of Ashlee of course, but there were some that stood out more than others! The cheeseburger pizza was not my favorite, but the spicy corn dog definitely piqued my interest! Stay tuned for a more in-depth look at the foods of Pixar Fest!
Day & Night Parades
I reserved a dining package the first day they became available for Paint the Night! I had never eaten at the Wine Country Trattoria, so I booked the package they were offering. Plus, I wanted to be guaranteed a spot for the parade! I’ll be giving a full review of the dining experience and Paint the Night parade in separate posts! Luckily our dinner reservation was for 4:20 p.m. so we were able to hop over to Disneyland just before the 6:00 p.m. show of the Pixar Play Parade!
I was surprised we found a place to stand across from the Main Street Railroad station. Without going into too much detail, both parades are FANTASTIC! A full review of my thoughts will be coming shortly! We did not catch the fireworks show, but I can’t wait to see it! We were walking out as the show was happening and from what I saw it’s a beautiful show!
Merchandise & AP Stuff
I put these two together because I wasn’t overly impressed with the general merchandise and things offered for Annual Passholders. I was able to get my Pixar Fest pin which I am really happy about! I might need to set more time aside for looking through the shops and checking everything out, but first glance, not impressed. I did like all the new shopping bags with their Pixar Fest design though! The souvenir popcorn buckets, sipper cups, and straws are all adorable! I just wish they weren’t so expensive! As for the AP merchandise and AP corner, I do wish there was more for us. I’ll recap all the AP stuff in another post as well!
Pixar Shorts Film Festival
This was my favorite part of the day! I was not expecting this to be a part of Pixar Fest. When I saw the giant sign at the Sunset Showcase Theater, I had to go inside! Plus it was really hot outside, so this was a great place to relax and cool down!
Until May 7, the theater is showing three Pixar shorts which include For The Birds, Lava, & Piper. I presume throughout Pixar Fest the shorts will be changed out. It was very different watching the shorts in 3D, I don’t normally like 3D, but this experience was worthwhile! I highly recommend stopping by and checking out the Pixar shorts!
After one day of Pixar Fest, I have concluded I cannot wait to go back! There is so much to do! I don’t think I even recapped everything! I plan to meet the Pixar Pals over in Paradise Garden, get a cute picture with the Toy Story themed cars outside Cars Land, eat more themed food, watch the fireworks, and make a lot of memories! Please make sure to subscribe to our blog, so you don’t miss any of the action of Pixar Fest!
P.S. Baby Disney Ducks are out and about! Enjoy these pictures of adorable baby ducks…
