FOOD GUIDE: My Quest To Eat Through Pixar Fest: Part 1

As I stated in my initial post about Pixar Fest, I will be starting a series of posts titled, “My Quest to Eat Through Pixar Fest” where I will be reviewing the variety of foods offered during Pixar Fest! I have no idea how much I will get through, or how many posts it will take, but I hope you’ll join me on this adventure! Here’s what I tried during the opening weekend of Pixar Fest!

Snacks

Champions Corn Cup – $4.49 (No AP discount)

I was drawn to this particular snack because, one, it was different and two, it had the shortest line at the Cozy Cone Motel! This cup contains fresh corn, flavored mayonnaise, cotija cheese, chile-lime spice, and lime! I mixed everything up so I could taste all the flavors with every bite. I love spicy, so the chile-lime spice did not disappoint! However, the corn was a bit watery, so I wasn’t a fan of that too much. There was a small sprig of cilantro that was a great addition! I personally could have used more cilantro! Overall, great little snack! I would recommend trying!

Iced Specialty Churro – $4.49 (No AP discount)

This churro can be found at the churro cart in Bugs Land! Not sure where it’ll get relocated once Bugs Land closes though? This treat is a class churro with donut icing drizzled across it and dusted with cocoa cereal! What really made this churro delicious was the fact that it was warm and fresh! I didn’t think I’d like this one very much, but it’s a great sweet treat to snack on during the day! I definitely recommend!

Alien Macaron – $5.99 (AP discount available)

Some of my all-time favorite snacks at the Disneyland Resort are macarons! Each season seems to bring a new one! For Pixar Fest, we are presented with an alien macaron! I have yet to figure out what the filing is. I want to say it’s blackberry-lime like the parfait, but I’m not too sure. If you happen to know what it is, please let me know! Aside from that, the filling is pretty tart. It wasn’t my favorite macaron I’ve had, but still tasty! You can find it at the newly “rethemed” Pizza Planet (formerly Pizza Port). If you’ve seen pictures of the interior and exterior, you’ll understand why the air quotes. I’d recommend, also great for picture taking!

Entrees

Spicy Corn Dog – $9.49 (AP discount available)

As I said before, I like spicy! So it’s no surprise I didn’t delay in trying this corn dog! It’s filled with a hot link sausage, pepper jack cheese, and a spicier chicken sausage served with sweet and spicy blackberry-serrano chile sauce! I LOVED this corn dog! The sausage and cheese were perfect together! I wasn’t particularly fond of the sauce, plus you don’t get very much. Ketchup and mustard do just fine! This is definitely one item I would eat again! You also get a choice of chips or apples. I HIGHLY recommend!

Cheeseburger Pizza – $8.49 (AP discount available)

I will admit I did not fully try this pizza; I had one bite. Ashlee was the one who wanted to try it, but honestly, the description was in no way appealing to me! Here’s what’s on this pizza: a slider patty, ketchup, mustard, American and cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, diced tomato, pickles, and burger sauce. I don’t know about you, but I like my cheeseburgers separate from my pizza! My one bite was enough for me to say I do not recommend it unless you’re really that curious about it! This can also be found at Pizza Planet!

Desserts

Salted Caramel Pecan Sundae – $7.49 (No AP discount)

Who doesn’t love ice cream?? Although there wasn’t really anything too special about this sundae, it’s perfect for ice cream lovers! There’s a scoop of chocolate ice cream and a scoop of butter pecan ice cream, salted caramel sauce, and topped with whipped cream and candied pecans! This was the last thing we had for the night, so it was a nice ending to a day full of delicious food! I would also recommend this! If you don’t like the flavors of ice cream, I am pretty sure you can substitute them!

**Bonus Item** Dole Whip Donut (Pineapple Donut) – $6.00 (No AP discount)

IMG_1303IMG_1319

Although the Dole Whip donut is not a Pixar Fest food item, we did try it! Now that I’ve seen how crazy the lines are over this treat, I’m glad we got it when we did! Unfortunately, this is only a limited time item. Who knows, maybe it’ll make a comeback?? I had written off this donut because I don’t really like donuts. I will say I am glad I tried it because it was very delicious! The consensus between us both was two very sticky thumbs up! The donut was fresh, the pineapple filling wasn’t too sweet, nor was the meringue topping!

In addition to The Adventureland Girls, we both also contribute to another blog The Mouse and the Monorail! We wrote a review of the Dole Whip Donut that you can check out here!
