Best Tips for Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Resort

IMG_5536

It’s officially holiday season at the Disneyland Resort which can only mean one thing: Mickey’s Halloween Party! For a limited time on select nights, guests can visit this special ticketed event in September and October! This is my absolute FAVORITE event of the entire year! I enjoy helping others make the most of their visits so here are my tips for maximizing your time at Mickey’s Halloween Party!

Tip #1: Arrive Early

This might seem like a given, but your ticket allows you early entry to Disneyland OR Disney California Adventure! Early entry into both parks was introduced last year. Even if you’re a passholder, I urge you to get to the parks early and make the most of your ticket! You can grab some food, go on rides, or just enjoy a few extra hours in the parks!

Tip #2: Visit Toontown First

This goes hand in hand with the previous tip! A few years ago I was told Toontown opens before the event actually starts. This year I went to go see if that was actually true. Sure enough, it is and let me tell you I was not disappointed! There were 3 Treat Trails and character meet and greets. I think I got the most candy from this land alone! Toontown opened about an hour before the actual event begins so plan accordingly!

Tip #3: B.Y.O.B.

Bring your own bag! Although Disneyland does provide you with a complimentary bag, I guarantee you it won’t be big enough LOL! You get a TON of candy and snacks so come prepared and bring a bigger bag! You won’t be sorry!

Tip #4: Watch the Fireworks AND Parade

Is it possible to see the fireworks AND parade in one night? Yes, it is! Ashlee recommends you get to the front of the castle at least 30 minutes before the fireworks. Also, stay to the right of the castle because you’ll be able to see more! You may catch the end of the first parade, but the second one is usually less crowded. This makes for easier seating! We found seats on Main Street in front of the train station with no problem! You’ll want to be early for that too, so you don’t miss the Headless Horseman!

Tip #5: Meet Characters

It’s not every day you can walk around Disneyland and bump into your favorite villain. Take the opportunity to meet some of the awesome villains that can only be seen at this event! In addition to the villains, your favorite classic Disney characters are throughout the park in their Halloween costumes! New this year were two meet and greet opportunities inspired by the Haunted Mansion. The infamous bride was one of them, and the other was Sally Slater aka the girl from the tightrope portrait! Visit these two new characters on the patio of the French Market!

Tip #6: Have Fun!

It goes without saying that you and your family or friends should have fun! This is such an awesome event, and there’s truly so much to do! You may not get to do it all, but there’s always next year! Between the candy, themed food, rides, characters, shows, and fireworks, you’re bound to have a wonderful night!

  1. This looks so awesome. I am so jealous, wish I could go. Take lots of pics and share so we can see the experience. Any special food during this event? This looks like a great event that is bigger than just rides. Are any of the rides made spooky for Halloween? Thanks for sharing.
