Happy New Year Adventurers! I know it’s been a while since our last post, but we’re starting this New Year strong! There is A LOT to look forward to in 2019 at the Disneyland Resort! I wanted to share some of the highlights of this upcoming year and what we’re looking forward to most!
Mickey & Minnie’s 90th Get Your Ears On Celebration
Mickey & Minnie are turning 90! This means it’s time to CELEBRATE! New merchandise, new food, new popcorn buckets, new everything! This iconic couple really knows how to celebrate! Mickey’s Mix Magic is a new night light show taking place in Disneyland. Mickey is our DJ and with his mix of songs, projections, lights and lasers he’ll be getting you off your feet and dancing on the street! Mickey’s Soundsational Parade is coming back with a new float dedicated to the Mouse himself! Don’t miss your chance to celebrate with Mickey & Minnie this year!
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is (probably) the most anticipated land expansion of all time! Whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not you have some kind of opinion on this new land. Disneyland will be opening Galaxy’s Edge this Summer, while Walt Disney World will open theirs later in the Fall. This new land will include two new rides – Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Star Wars Rise of the Resistance. Additionally, Galaxy’s Edge will be the first location in the park to serve alcohol to the public. Currently only Club 33 serves alcohol, but that’s not open to everyone.
People will be flocking from all over to experience this so be prepared for MASSIVE CROWDS! The Disneyland Resort is already preparing for the crowds by building a new parking structure in the Mickey & Friends lot. This new structure actually connects to the current one. Hopefully it’ll be done by the Summer. Ashlee and I are excited for the new land and hope to be there when it opens!
The Tropical Hideaway
Although this technically opened in late 2018, I’m adding it to this list because we recently tried it out! The Tropical Hideaway is located in the area formerly known as Aladdin’s Oasis. The area is completely transformed and now serves a variety of delicious, tropical food items! I won’t give too much away here, but for a full review on The Tropical Hideaway check out our post here!
Food & Wine Festival
Every food lovers dream…Food & Wine Festival! From March 1 to April 23 you’ll be able to enjoy a myriad of delicious foods, tasty wines, and so much more! Last year AP’s were able to purchase a “Sip and Savor Pass” which allowed you to pay a flat fee and enjoy 8 food items. I hope that comes back this year because it was a great value! For additional information on the Food & Wine Festival check out Disney’s site here!
Didn’t Pixar Pier already open? Yes, it did. You may remember our first look when it opened! However, it’s really only partially completed. There are two attractions that still need to be opened. Jessie’s Critter Carousel is scheduled to open sometime this year. No definitive date has been given but construction is well on its way! As for the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, last I heard it was also supposed to open this year so I’ll keep my eyes open for any updates on that!
For those of you who haven’t seen or haven’t noticed, the Disneyland Resort raised their ticket and AP prices again. We all know this is because of the upcoming opening of Star Wars Land. Everyone has mixed emotions about the price hikes, but I do have some positive news despite it all!
If you’re planning to visit the Disneyland Resort from now until May 23 there is a special ticket promotion that allows you to visit for as little as $70 a day when you buy a 3-day, 1 park per day ticket! Tickets expire 13 days after first use or May 23 whichever comes first. The only blockout dates that apply are April 14-22. One Magic Morning admission is included with each ticket! This deal won’t last long so make sure you take advantage of it while you can! For more details check out Disney’s site here!
Lunar New Year
Last year was Year of the Dog and for once Pluto was the center of attention. Seeing as he’s our favorite character you could imagine our eagerness to find out more about this event! This year is Year of the Pig! The celebration that takes place in Disney California Adventure is actually quite remarkable. I was really impressed with the different food booths, shows, activities, and character greetings that were available. The celebration starts January 25 and goes through February 17!
There’s a lot coming to the Disneyland Resort in 2019 and I’m sure even more is bound to come! So what are we looking forward to MOST? Drum roll please….STAR WARS LAND! We hope you all have a great 2019 at The Happiest Place on Earth! Let us know what you’re looking forward to most!
