Downtown Disney Black Tap Anaheim Food Review

Food and Shakes Worth Trying at Black Tap

Black Tap Anaheim is the newest eatery that’s opened at Downtown Disney. Located next to Ballast Point in the building that was formerly Build-A-Bear. At first I was sad to see Build-A-Bear go, but I’m okay with it now that I’ve tried Black Tap! What caught our attention was the insane shakes served up here! There’s such a variety of shakes and food, so you’re bound to find something you like!

Because this is still a new location expect a long line. We waited about 30 minutes to order on a Thursday evening. I can only imagine the line on the weekends! There’s plenty of seating inside and a small bar if you’d like to sit there as well. I enjoyed watching the CrazyShakes being made! It’s a great tactic as you’re standing in line to order and your mouth is salivating over these shakes LOL!

Once you order someone takes you to your seat where you’ll put your pager on the edge of the table. This allows the servers to know where to bring the food! There’s plenty of seating inside and outside. The employees here are very friendly and helpful which makes it so much more inviting!

Want a shake but don’t want to wait in line? You’re in luck! There’s a walk up window where you can order shakes to-go! Some of the CrazyShakes are available along with Classic Shake flavors. This line is usually much shorter than the one to eat and sit inside.

There is no shortage of options when it comes to ordering! They have snacks and wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads and of course SHAKES! Fountain drinks and a variety of beers, wines, and cocktails are available as well. Burgers and sandwiches are served with a side of fries, but you can substitute for onion rings, sweet potato fries, house salad, or any side for $2. Check here for the full menu.

Pro Tip: Annual Passholders get a 10% discount at this location.

You truly can’t go wrong with any of their items! We decided to share a starter, sandwich, and shake for our first visit. The food is pricey, but the portions are HUGE! Here’s what we tried (we’ll continue updating as we try more items):

Crispy Brussels Sprouts – $8.00

We’ve recently become fans of Brussels Sprouts, so any chance we can try them we do! These are served with a Sesame-Tahini sauce that’s very flavorful and compliments the crispy sprouts really nicely! I wish I had a bigger bowl of these because they were absolutely delicious! HIGHLY recommend!!

Baja Grilled Chicken Sandwich – $18.00

We weren’t quite feeling a burger on this particular visit, but that’s the beauty of this place! You don’t have to get a burger, there’s other options like this chicken sandwich that you can choose from!  This sandwich has Cajun Grilled Chicken Breast, Bacon, fresh Avocado, Pepper Jack Cheese, Salsa Verde, Chipotle Mayo, Cilantro, and fresh Lime on a Martin’s® Potato Roll, served with French Fries. As mentioned previously you can substitute the fries for another side for $2. All the flavors went so well together, it was a little messy but that’s to be expected! Again, highly recommend!

Strawberry Shortcake CrazyShake – $15.00

No visit would be complete without trying one of these CrazyShakes! Since Ashlee and I have completely different flavor interests we had to pick something we BOTH agreed on LOL! This was our choice and it did not disappoint! This is a Strawberry Shake with a Vanilla Frosted Rim with Crumbled Cake topped with a Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Bar, Pink and White Twisty Pop, Whipped Cream, Strawberry Drizzle, Crumbled Cake, and a Cherry. So you should really like strawberry if you try this! These shakes are great for sharing! Can’t wait until we try them ALL!

Overall Thoughts

We were very impressed with this new dining location! It’s about time Downtown Disney added some better places to eat and this was a great choice! Next time you’re wondering where to go, consider Black Tap it’ll be worth your time!
